What's the meaning of YALI?

The Yali is a chimerical creation (a mythical animal formed from parts of various animals) from ancient Hindu mythology. You can think of Yali similarly to winged Pegasus or even a unicorn. The Yali can be found today in as it is often sculpted onto the pillars at the entrance of many South Indian temples. It is often portrayed as part lion, part elephant and part horse.
 
Because the Yali is described as having the body of a lion with the trunk of an elephant it acts as a guardian, protecting physically as well as spiritually. The Yali is believed to have been more powerful than lions or elephants and as such, have supremacy over the entire animal world while being completely fearless.
